Window

There was sadness in her eyes

She would smile and laugh but it never reached past her lips

A depth that told a story of loss and heartache

A window to her true emotion

She kept it under lock and key

Only sometimes did short glimpses escape between the smiles

A deep hurt

A loneliness that made your heart ache

But just for a second

Before you questioned whether you had really seen into her true self

But the emotion stayed with you

Tormented you

It was enough to send you into a spiral of your own

Deep into the cavernous maw of depression

Enough to swallow you whole

Make you rethink how you view the world

And the possibility of never viewing it again

One look into her soul

To make you want to end yours
